where to start with cosmetic procedures

Cosmetic procedures come in many forms. You can have some procedures done to shape your body or others to remove the damage of time to your face and neck. So, how do you decide which cosmetic procedures you want to have done? This is something that I struggled with for several years before I took the first step of improving my appearance through cosmetic surgery and procedures. I created this blog with the sole purpose of helping others struggling with the decisions that come with having cosmetic procedures performed find the solutions that will best suit their personal needs and desires.

What You Should Not Do After a Surgical Sinuplasty

If you have a severe case of rhinitis, then you can speak with your doctor about a procedure called a sinuplasty where the sinus passages are opened up with the assistance of a balloon. And, while the procedure is fairly simple and unlikely to cause any sort of complications, there are a few things that you need to avoid if you want your sinus cavities to heal properly. Keep reading to learn what these things are.

Use Steroid Nasal Sprays

The vast majority of people with allergic rhinitis will use nasal sprays to reduce inflammation in the nasal passages. And, if you use a spray like Flonase or Nasacort, then you need to stop using the spray for around two weeks after your procedure. While it may make sense to use the spray as frequently as before to minimize swelling, this is not something that will benefit you. The spray will actually irritate the inner lining of the sinuses and prevent healing.

Instead of the steroidal spray, you will be instructed to use saline rinses. Two types of saline that can be utilized include a saline mist spray and a sinus irrigation rinse. Follow your physician's instructions for using these products. The rinse may be too aggressive to use immediately after surgery, so you may need to start with the mister first and then move on to the irrigation after a few days to a week.

When using your mister and your irrigator, you want to ensure that the items are as clean and sterile as possible in between uses. This means cleaning the tips of the devices thoroughly between uses.

Blow Your Nose

Your nasal passages will feel quite congested after your sinuplasty and you may be tempted to blow your nose to get rid of some of this congestion. However, you should not be blowing your nose after your procedure. In fact, you want to avoid this for a week to two weeks after your operation. Nose blowing creates a great deal of pressure within the nasal passages that can easily disrupt the scabs that have formed in the area. Disrupting them will lead to bleeding, possible scarring, and a prolonged healing period.

If you feel congestion that you want to relieve, then you can use a warm compress on the face. This will help to release mucus from the nasal passages without disrupting any scabs. You can warm a washcloth for this in the microwave or you can simply wet a cloth with warm water.
