where to start with cosmetic procedures

Cosmetic procedures come in many forms. You can have some procedures done to shape your body or others to remove the damage of time to your face and neck. So, how do you decide which cosmetic procedures you want to have done? This is something that I struggled with for several years before I took the first step of improving my appearance through cosmetic surgery and procedures. I created this blog with the sole purpose of helping others struggling with the decisions that come with having cosmetic procedures performed find the solutions that will best suit their personal needs and desires.

Considering Botox? 3 Things To Know First

Your skin is an important part of your appearance, so you most likely want it to look healthy and youthful. Unfortunately, certain factors, such as age and the environment, can affect the look and underlying health of your skin. Thankfully, help is available, especially if you are dealing with fine lines and wrinkles due to age and environmental factors. Botox injections can be a great option if you want to restore your skin back to its youthful state OR if you want to prevent fine lines and wrinkles from developing. Here are a few things to know if you are considering Botox.

Different Dose for Everyone

One of the first things you need to know is that there are no one-size-fits-all Botox injections. Basically, each person will require a different dose and treatment plan.

The injections are measured in units and the total units injected will depend on your specific needs, including if you are using Botox for preventative purposes, the severity of your fine lines, and the area that will be treated.

Because fine lines and wrinkles are common in the forehead, Botox is often used on this area. On average, 20 units of Botox may be injected to reduce the appearance of horizontal forehead lines. An estimated 20 units may also be injected to diminish the lines between the eyes of the forehead. Even though these are averages, you may require less or more units for the most effective treatment.

Pain and Swelling Are Normal Side Effects

You should never experience severe pain or discomfort when Botox is injected. However, slight pain, bleeding, and swelling are normal side effects to expect.

Afterwards, some bruising may also occur. In most cases, an over-the-counter ibuprofen and an ice pack will be sufficient for reducing discomfort, easing the swelling, and helping the bruising to heal.

If you are continuing to experience pain or discomfort after a few days, contact your doctor immediately.

Results are Not Immediate

Again, swelling and bruising are both common side effects after receiving the Botox injections. Therefore, you may not see any actual improvement in the fine lines and wrinkles immediately after the injections.

Fortunately, once the swelling and bruising subside, which can take a few days, you should see that the fine lines have diminished. Each day as the swelling and bruising decrease, the improvements of your skin will be even more visible.

Botox injections can be great options for improving your look and self-esteem. This guide will ensure you are prepared for this skincare treatment.
