where to start with cosmetic procedures

Cosmetic procedures come in many forms. You can have some procedures done to shape your body or others to remove the damage of time to your face and neck. So, how do you decide which cosmetic procedures you want to have done? This is something that I struggled with for several years before I took the first step of improving my appearance through cosmetic surgery and procedures. I created this blog with the sole purpose of helping others struggling with the decisions that come with having cosmetic procedures performed find the solutions that will best suit their personal needs and desires.

Why A Mini Facelift May Be The Right Choice For You

If you have sagging and tired skin across your face, then you should know that there are some cosmetic procedures that can help you appear younger. If you are looking for a drastic look, then a facelift may be your best option. And, while a traditional facelift may be a major procedure, you do have the option of picking a less invasive one called a mini facelift. Keep reading to learn about some benefits of this over a more traditional operation.

Less Anesthesia May Be Needed

When it comes to a mini facelift, your cosmetic surgeon may choose to perform the procedure under local anesthesia. This anesthesia is often paired with something called wakeful sedation to ensure that you are not stressed during the procedure and so that you do not remember what occurred during the operation. In some cases, this is ideal over full or general sedation. For example, if you are fearful of anesthesia, then this can reduce your anxiety.

Also, if you have had an adverse reaction to anesthesia in the past, then you may be unable to receive general anesthetics. For example, you may have experienced respiratory distress, a sudden drop in blood pressure, or a hypothermia or hyperthermia difficulty. Some people are even allergic to general anesthetics, so this may be problematic for you as well.

If you have any comorbidities like COPD, diabetes, cardiovascular disease, or hypertension, then it may not be safe for you to receive general sedation, making the wakeful sedation the best option. This may also be true if you are obese.

Bleeding Risks Are Reduced

If you have a clotting disorder, a blood ailment, or if you are currently taking an anticoagulant, then you are at risk of bleeding after the facelift. Not only can this elevate infection concerns, but it can lead to bruising and swelling after your operation. Thankfully, the mini facelift reduces these risks due to the shorter and fewer incisions that are utilized during the procedure. Also, there is less trauma to the deep tissues during the operation, meaning less bleeding and a quicker healing process.

While it is true that bleeding can be controlled more effectively, you will still need to follow your surgeon's instructions when it comes to stopping or reducing certain medications. Aspirin, Warfarin, and other blood-thinning medications may need to be discontinued for a week or more before the facelift procedure.
